At some point in our life, we have been exposed to traumatic events. Trauma can be devastating, but at the same time it can be used to serve as a doorway and path to personal growth and healing. BBTRS workshops and courses create opportunity for participants to uncover and let go of the effects of trauma on their body and life. 

To many of us breathing has become shallow and restricted because of the exposure to stress and traumatic events. We use a special breath technique to activate our sympathetic nervous system, this allows the release of energetic charge which is stuck at the core of our body and is connected to our past traumas. 

The Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System was created and founded by Giten Tonkov as a breathwork practice which works specifically with trauma resolution and the releasing of physical and emotional tension. BBTRS is built on a new revolutionary approach to body oriented therapy through the combining of 6 major elements- Meditation, specialised touch & bodywork, sound, breath, gentle emotional release and movement.

Touch and bodywork is used to support the opening of tense muscular tissue, as well as to comfort and bring a feeling of safety during the session. Once our body is charged with bioenergy, we encourage the physical movement in the form of vibration and tremoring. This type of physical release discharges excess energy that has been trapped in our muscles. In our workshops we use conscious movement, we dance, we laugh, we cry, we connect from the heart. 



Once the physical tension begins to unlock, emotions and feelings that have been suppressed and unacknowledged begin to rise to the surface. Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release Training Foundational Level 1

This BioDynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System Training is suitable for aspiring practitioners. It is suitable for those who wish to deepen their understanding of body orientated or trauma informed therapy. It is also perfect for those who wish to experience this work for their own personal journey of exploration and trauma resolution, releasing long held tension and trauma from the body.

There are no pre-requisites for participating in the training and no previous experience is necessary. Upon completion of the Foundational training  Level 1 module, participants can choose to continue in our trainings on a purely experiential basis or to enter into our Practitioner Certification Program.


Whether you wish to participate in our Practitioner Certification Program or the Experiential Route, you will start your journey with BBTRS at the Foundational Level 1. THIS particular training is specifically for Foundational Level 1 only and is NOT suitable for levels 2-4. All participants graduating from this training may continue their training at any of the other worldwide trainings within 2 years of your chosen start date.

As you progress through your BBTRS training, you will be taught advanced elements of the training and take on different roles and responsibilities within the workshop group to further your personal and professional development. Students returning as part of the Practitioner Certification Program gradually take on the role of supporters and receive additional guidance and mentorship from the facilitators to help them grow as practitioners and to learn to hold safe session space for others. New participants benefit from this integrated structure through receiving the broad support offered by both the facilitators and more experienced students at various levels. Our integrated training structure allows all participants to have a unique learning experience as part of a group process, and to meet your varying needs at all stages of your journey with BBTRS.


What to expect in your Foundational Level 1 Training Retreat:

Everyone in this training will be fairly new or completely new to this work. In BBTRS we believe that before we can truly hold space for others, we must apply the work to ourselves first. We can better support others once we have experienced the depth of our own inner world and become better acquainted with our own physical body. Through applying the work to ourselves we create a solid foundation from where we can become evermore present with ourselves, others and the moment -to -moment experiences of everyday life.


In this training all students will fully participate in the 8 day experiential journey.

You will be safely supported by us, Natalie & Daniel and our team of fully trained assistants. We will guide you on a beautiful & intensive journey of opening up the breath & body. Day by day we will work with each of the belts of tension in the body through active meditations, sound, movement, group & partner exercises, conscious connected breathing and more. There will be laughter, play, tears, connection, release and expansion. The BBTR system is designed in such a way that we can meet and resolve the trauma and tension held in the physical and emotional body, the nervous system and the cellular memory, thus, intimately reconnecting with your own true essence and bring about a deeper connection to others, whilst creating internal space and a sense of vitality. There will also be many opportunities to support sessions and apply the skills you learn each day. 

This practice allows the stuck ‘fight or flight’ response to be completed in a safe and supported environment, this in turn brings about the unlocking of enormous amounts of energy which was previously used for contraction and holding.

You will learn and experience the 6 major elements of the BBTRS system - Breath, Movement, sound, touch, emotions, meditation. 

You will also learn and embody the fundamentals of both receiving and holding space for a BBTRS session- Felt sense, Resource, Resonance, Touch, Presence, Integration, Charge & Discharge, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma Release exercises, Titration, Pendulation & Grounding to support us in moving into the deeper realms of trust and surrender, exercising boundaries and gently moving beyond our comfort zones. We will explore authentic expression through movement and voice. We will look at the interruption and armouring formed around the heart and begin to open up to love, connection and feeling once more.

About your Facilitators:

Natalie Keany - UK

Natalie was introduced to the Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System in 2013. Prior to this, she travelled the world for many years learning various techniques and modalities with the intention of self-healing. It was BBTRS which finally provided the safety and support system which was necessary for her to work with her own experiences of trauma, to fully release, and to ‘come home’ to her body and essence. The work had such a phenomenal and lasting effect on her that there was a natural and dedicated transition for learning and sharing this work with others.


Natalie went on to train with the BioDynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release Institute and continues to work with the institute on their trainings worldwide. 

Natalie’s passion lies very much in the space of meeting each client in the here & now with all that is alive in each moment, releasing the old to make space to discover the infinite, unrealised potential which exists within each of us. 


She has a devotion to working with childhood trauma, addiction & depression, and sees herself as a living example of how this work can change lives. Her own personal journey of transformation has brought confirmation that the breath in its very nature is like alchemy, and can assist us in transmuting past trauma into precious and unique gifts.

Natalie facilitates individual and group sessions, as well as being a member of the BBTR Institute’s support team and faculty member. Natalie moves between U.K, Europe, Australia and Asia where she works with individuals in 1-1 sessions, women's groups, mixed groups, aquatic & breath therapy, breath with movement & art therapy and also collaborates with other practitioners in lovingly designing workshops which provide a safe, fun space for participants to explore, expand, release & transform.


Daniel Anner - Switzerland

Daniel discovered Iyengar Yoga in San Francisco in 2002 after his studies in psychology. Since then, he has practiced different styles of yoga and collaborates annually with different teachers in Ashtanga, Iyengar and Kundalini Yoga.

Since 2005, he has been teaching yoga at the World Economic Forum, the World Trade Organization, the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues and the UN, as well as a private clientele and at the Geneva International School. He also teaches at festivals in Chamonix, Bali and Barcelona. 

He has been blessed to organise and share yoga and AcroYoga workshops for partners, friends, couples and parents with kids since 2007. Opening a whole new horizon of traveling, meeting amazing artists, yogis, therapists, inspiring human beings... This assisted to grow through partner and community yoga, and participate in a change towards a better world. 

In 2010 he founded the Geneva Yoga Festival, introducing Breathwork to the community there. 

He has also been involved in launching other festivals in Brazil, Paraty. 

Daniel is trained in many massage and holistic techniques, such as Thai massage, osteo thai, chi nei tsang, reiki, craniosacral and as a lifelong process, he keeps training in yoga, massages, healings, kirtan ... and is blessed to have so many amazing teachers to clear the path. 

Daniel feels blessed to join the BBTRS family and continues to work alongside the Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release Institute as a member of their support team and faculty member, as well as giving group and individual sessions.
